The geek guild FAQs

Click the Apply Now button above and create your profile application – here you will complete basic information.

After this is completed, GEEKEXPO will email you with your next steps.

Naturally, the more shifts you do, the more on-the-job knowledge you gain, so we love it when you can work for more than one day. People who can work more than one day will be given priority.

As Guild member, you are responsible for your own transportation, parking, accommodation, and food. You’ll receive a GEEKEXPO Laynard, If your shift ends early on the day you are scheduled, then you can attend the con for the remainder of that day.

As a paid Guild member, we will try to place you where you’ve got prior experience – be sure to tell GEEKEXPO if you’ve worked in a certain area before. However, in this role, we may need to move Guild members around to different areas of the show based on where it’s busy or slower. We require flexibility in this regard. No one on the Guild “owns” a certain position or placement at the show. Requesting to be placed with a specific Celebrity Guest tends to make our fanboy/fangirl radar go off and can ultimately influence decisions on if or where you are scheduled.

Make this request directly to GEEKEXPO because they are responsible for scheduling. Generally, friends can’t take breaks together, but if you are carpooling, be sure to tell GEEKEXPO who you’d ideally like to start and finish with each day.

  1. A GEEKEXPO Lanyard will be provided.
  2. Casual dress code includes the following: jeans (without rips or tears), khakis, shorts, knee-length skirts, and capri pants.
  3. Footwear – please wear comfortable shoes.
  4. Cosplay is permitted; however, your Guild Lanyard must be worn. All costumes must be approved in advance to ensure they do not limit your ability to perform your duties.
  5. Practice good personal hygiene. Avoid using excessive amounts of perfumes, colognes, and/or hairsprays that may cause a problem for allergy sufferers.
  6. Guild members are responsible for dressing according to this policy for their shifts and checking with supervisors about the appropriate and safe dress to wear. In the case of a different dress requirement based on an activity or event, crew members are responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate clothes for the shift.

GEEKEXPO is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment.

Should you require any accommodation through any stage of the Guild recruitment process, please make your needs known when contacted, and we will work with you to meet your needs.
